Can -tagsFromFile accept an XMP sidecar file as SRCFILE

I propose

>exiftool -tagsFromFile in.xmp sample.jpg

to embed the XMP from sidecar in.xmp into sample.jpg.

The documentation talks about generating sidecar files. Can it accept them as input?

Hi Carl,

Yes.  The -tagsFromFile option will accept any file that exiftool can read.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).
