Hi
This is my 1st post here. 1st let me praise exiftool and say what an awsome program this is.
I'm struggling with the recurring problem of xmp to nef as a batch application. I've tried the examples of various previous posts and the following:

exiftool "-xmp<=%%d/%%f.xmp" -ext nef .

worked well for all tags in the xmp.
Since I only fill in very few fields in ACDSee (keywords, ratings) which are cumbersome to fill using ViewNX2, and since copying all the tags somehow makes me feel unconfortable since it is a lot of work to make shure that all tags of the original nef file are kept intact, I would like to copy only specific tags. For a single file and the keyword field I used sucessfully the following:

exiftool -tagsFromFile file.xmp -subject file.nef

However I do not seem to find a batch version that would process all file-pairs of a directory or even across directories. Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Try this:

exiftool -tagsfromfile %d%f.xmp -subject -ext nef DIR

- Phil
...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

Many thanks Phil,
worked like a charm. I had experimented with other version found in the forum but allways got errors. This one is perfect.
