There is one interesting enough project — JPGCrush— created specially for optimization JPEG without quality loss, being in turn a superstructure over JPEGTran. Creates JPEG exclusively in format Progressive. The unique lack — works only in *nix-systems. The work principle following — JPGCrush uses JPEGTran as means of creation JPEG, but parameters sets itself, I use function-scans

Whether somebody can import it on Windows, the project is written on Perl?

And one more question who is able to work in files-scans for work with JPEGTran? There is an idea will create applications which to create all possible variants-scans files, for different JPEG:
— Optimize grayscale
— Optimize rgb
— Progressive grayscale
— Progressive rgb
