Hi Phil,

Thanks for using your program together with GeoSetter.

I have a Nikon D7500 camera with a "AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR" and a "Sigma 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 DC MACRO HSM". The Sigma lens display as "Unknown", when I am using this command:

exiftool -r *.jpg -LensIDNumber -LensID -LensType -Lens -FNumber -FocalLength -FocalLengthIn35mmFormat -FocalLengthIn35efl -MinFocalLength -MaxFocalLength -Make -Model >lens.txt

Is it possible to have Exiftool display the right LensID?

Hi Bert,

Thanks.  ExifTool 12.41 (to be released soon) will support this Sigma lens.

On a Pentax K-30 a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro (https://www.pentaxforums.com/userreviews/sigma-70-300mm-f4-5-6-dg-macro.html) reports as this:

LensType  : Sigma Lens (3 255)
LensID     : Sigma DL Zoom 75-300mm F4-5.6 or Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 Macro

Phil Harvey

Thanks.  Unfortunately lenstype 255 is used by many different Sigma lenses.  In your example, ExifTool can't distinguish between the two Sigma Lenses listed.  And yours is identical to the existing 70-300, but a DG version, which is even more difficult to distinguish.

Thanks, I was trying to get exiftool to put the lensmodel the same as lensID ("-lensmodel<lensid") since lensID is correct.

(Normally I'd do lensmodel<lenstype" but that failed here, since also Sigma 255).

So at least https://www.flickr.com/photos/always_reboot_before_calling_it/52090332138/in/dateposted/ has it right, or is good enough.  Lens info is weird though.

Voigtländer APO-Skopar 90mm F2.8 SL IIs

(Edit: I checked the Cosina site and they mostly write "SL IIs". On the German voigtlander site there are variations: both "SLII-S" and "SL IIs" is used.)

Hi,

I have the same lens as in Reply #186
Identification is "SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2" with model id "A022" according to https://www.tamron.eu/lenses/sp-150-600mm-f5-63-di-vc-usd-g2/
However, the lens ID is different.
This is what I get with ExifTool v 12.42:

Lens ID Number                  : 227
Lens ID                         : Unknown (E3 40 76 A6 38 40 DF 0E) Tamron SP AF 150-600mm f/5-6.3 VC USD (A011) ?
Lens Type                       : G VR
Lens                            : 150-600mm f/5-6.3
F Number                        : 5.3
Focal Length                    : 200.0 mm
Focal Length In 35mm Format     : 300 mm
Min Focal Length                : 151.0 mm
Max Focal Length                : 604.1 mm
Make                            : NIKON CORPORATION
Camera Model Name               : NIKON D7000

Hi all,

I like to add

Phil Harvey

Thanks, but that lens is already defined in the current version of ExifTool (12.47).  (See the Pentax LensType list.)
