Mac "Spotlight" search database

My son has years worth of graphics on a Mac (Os X) and he finds them because he has indexed them with Mac "Spotlight" search engine by putting data in the "Info" area of the properties of the file.  This data is stored in the "Spotlight" database that the Mac uses to index all it's files.

Is there any way to move that data from Spotlight data or the Mac indexing database and embed the data into the graphic so when the files are transferred to another computer all that data will not be lost?

I searched, but it doesn't seem like anybody has asked this question before.

Thanks.

ExifTool can't extract these comments (mainly because ExifTool is platform-independent, but also because I have no idea where these are stored), so I don't think that ExifTool can help you here.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).
