Hi!
Found a link to and praise for ExifTool at MakroFokus.se and decided to try it out.
Downloaded and installed the latest versions of ExifTool and ExifToolGUI and got problems: ExifToolGUI hangs.
Checked the ExifTool Forum and found and read the thread about the ExifToolGUI 5.06 hangings and tried all  the proposed workarounds/cures. Didn't help me, it still hangs after selecting a file or changing to User defined Filelist.
When tring to kill it using TaskManager' Application tab i get 'Invalid Pointer Operation' and I have to kill it in the 'Not responding' pop-up. At that time it consumes exactly 50% of the CPU.

Comments and help appreciated!

TIA

Hi Thomas,

I assume you've somehow downloaded corrupted exiftool file... so, try to download Windows Executable zip file from here: http://www.exiftool.org/
...and follow short instructions here (chapter "Requirements and preparations"):
https://exiftool.org/gui/

When you run GUI for the very first time (even if you don't click on nothing), GUI calls ExifTool to "initialize", and ExifTool's temp files are created automatically inside:
c:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Temp\par-YourName
-if you're using Windows 7.

I hope this will help. Anyway, feel free to come back if there are still troubles.

Bogdan,
The hint to where the TEMP files where stored helped and solved my problems, THANKS!
I had 2 folders in the /TEMP dir, leftovers from 2 earlier installations that for some reasons went wrong.
I had read your install advices but as I couldn't find any files in any /TEMP dir the following installations also went wrong.

A more crlearly formulated rule about what to remove from where (like the one you gave me) in the general installation advice might help newbies in the future!

But again thanks for your swift and correct support!

Hi Thomas,

Thank you for reporting you have solved the problem.
When writting "how to install" manual, it is hard to predict all situations (of what might get wrong).. and not to mention, that I'm not the best writer  :)
