Hi Phil and others,

Some cameras, notably Canon's, do not include this Exif tag. So normally exif tools calculate the corresponding value based on other values. The problem is that such tools have problems with resized images. Regretfully exiftool is in this category too.

I have a patch that works for jhead. Can you consider include similar code for exiftool? You can check out more details at http://wyw.dcweb.cn/#download.

Best regards,

Hi Yongwei,

Thanks.  This is an interesting solution that would require an ugly patch to ExifTool.  I'll think about this.

Hi Phil,

I know it is not a perfect solution, but I have used it for very long time, and it works very well for Canon cameras. It seems other major brands already include the "35mm equivalent focal length" tag in their images, so they should not be negatively impacted.
