I took UNIX in 1990 I use an Apple MacBook I want to find out what all those ASCII characters mean
in some images; I do know how to use the command line in UNIX; with this app. though, seems bit beyond me now.

I ask you if there is a tutorial anywhere around - the meaning of metadata escapes me still.

Where I come from it may indeed mean a application imbedded within the image enabling a decode.

I do this anyway so it is a known fact to me, otherwise I could not decode all images in public domain now.

How it is done using Apple's App. and one more:

Greetings.

To use ExifTool on a mac:

1) Download and install the OS X version of ExifTool.

2) Launch /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app

3) In the Terminal window, type "exiftool" then SPACE

4) Drag and drop an image onto the Terminal window

5) Press RETURN to run ExifTool to extract metadata from the image.

Yes that does work... however as per those images I posted a few days ago - is it metadata that drives decoding within each image as I have suspected...?

I did just that very thing!
Since I live in Tucson I went to U of A [Mars Nasa program/ coordinator..is U of A]
A secretary said to use an Apple [why would viruses bother government people anyway?] as they all had that - loaded with a software called Graphic Converter.
http://www.lemkesoft.de/en/start/
So this German software does it all - updates the coding automatically - and well - I suppose not either U of A or the LemkeSoft people are in on this little secret...

The universe looks much more PRETTY since all this happened...!
