Doing a bit of digging around in D800 raw files, and right up near the top I see a "File Modification Date/Time" entry, with this value:

2014:02:16 13:09:16-07:00

At the time I made this exposure, the camera's Time Zone was set to London (UTC), and the "Create Date" and Exif.DateTimeDigitized are both 2014:02:16 13:09:16 as expected.

How does the camera know that I am in MST (-0700)?

Thanks for any insights anyone can share!

Hi George,

This is a file system date/time.  It isn't metadata from the camera.  You can add the -G1 option to see where the information is coming from.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

Thanks, Phil!

I prolly shoulda been able to put 2 + 2 together on that... but thanks for the reply.
