exiftool  '-Directory<DateTimeOriginal' -d %m-%d XF1

This moved the .jpg files but left the .wav files.  A composite datetimeoriginal appears to be calculated for the .wavs but I don't seem to be able to use it by using -a or '-Directory<composite:DateTimeOriginal'

hmmm, had a thought whilst writing.  This did it

exiftool  '-Directory<DateTimeOriginal' -d %m-%d -ext wav XF1

I don't understand why the first one didn't do the .wavs

I believe that's covered by FAQ 16.
* Did you read FAQ #3 and use the command listed there?
* Please use the Code button for exiftool code/output.

* Please include your OS, Exiftool version, and type of file you're processing (MP4, JPG, etc).

OK thanks.  The reasoning must be intuitive as I managed to intuit the solution.
