Hello,
I'm a new user of this forum and of exiftool as well.
I have a lot of pictures taken with my old Nokia 6600 which have the taken date on the comment of the picture.
I've found a script made some years ago (attached) to copy the date to the correct exif field (creation date) but I don't know how to use it with the windows version of exiftool.
This is the original post

How can I use that script?
Otherwise is there a way to put it in a command line to use it?
Thanks!

Hi Alessandro ,

You don't need a script.  With the relatively new advanced formatting feature you can do the necessary reformatting in an exiftool command:

exiftool "-createdate<${comment;my @a=/\d+/g;$_=qq(@a[2,1,0,3,4,5])}" DIR

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

Hi Phil,
thanks a lot for your quick answer and solution.
I've tested it and it is exactly what I need, some years have gone since I gave up trying to find a way to correct those dates...
