Error: ExifTool not found

Hi,
I'm totally new to exiftool!

I have read a previous thread on the same message but it does not apply to my conditions.

Running this on a laptop with Windows 10.

Have installed 64bit Perl.

Have extracted both the Tool (version 10.09) and GUI archives (version 5). Have moved the Jhead and Jpegtran exe's into the same directory. Have renamed the exiftool fie to exiftool.pl.

When I try to launch the GUI I immediately get "ERROR: ExifTool not found!"

So now I am stuck!

Any help will be much appreciated.

Rename the program to "exiftool.exe".  The file you downloaded is a windows executable, not perl code.  Also, the Perl installation isn't needed.

Solved it sort of.

The file 'exiftool' no file type is Perl code in the latest version.

I found some old versions of exiftool and the gui and they work fine.
