The Exif logic

When I use this code:
exiftool "-IPTC:DateCreated +=00:48:0" ~/Desktop/TEMP3

The Date Created shifts by 48 hours

But when I change 48 to 47, like this
exiftool "-IPTC:DateCreated +=00:47:0" ~/Desktop/TEMP3
Nothing happens. This doesn't make any sense to me. I need to shift the Date Created by + 2 min and 27 sec. What would be the right code to use?

I'm not sure how you're getting that result in the first command.  IPTC:DateCreated is a date only tag.  It doesn't contain hours:minutes:seconds.    The IPTC group has IPTC:TimeCreated to hold that data.  There is no change when you try to shift DateCreated on the hour scale. 

In your second command, you're using a smart quote ("), not a double quote (").  Or, if you're on mac/linux, you can just use a single quote.

Do you mean to use CreateDate (EXIF:CreateDate and/or XMP:CreateDate) instead?  That tag does contain hours/minutes/seconds data.  For that tag, the command to add 2 minutes and 27 seconds would be:
exiftool -CreateDate+=0:2:47 ~/Desktop/TEMP3

Thanks for your help StarGeek. I tried using the code you gave, and also tried using this code: exiftool -AllDates+=0:2:47 ~/Desktop/TEMP3.
It does shift the time by 2 min and 47 seconds. But when I open the processed files in Adobe Bridge, the Date Created still shows with same (wrong) time as before. When I check in Finder, the date created is changed to today.

I was hoping that once the the correct time would show in Adobe Bridge, I would add photos from 2nd camera, sort them all by date created, and batch rename the files from 0001 to whatever. But Adobe Bridge still shows the old date of processed files. When I open these processed files in Preview, and click on Command I to get more info, both Exif and IPTC show the correct (new) time. I don't understand where Adobe Bridge gets the old one. I am testing with JPEGs, and already tried to Purge Cashe in Bridge.

Any suggestions?

I don't have access to Bridge, so I can't help to much with it.  Try re-importing the images if you can.  Otherwise, try out the command in FAQ 3.  You'll have to try and figure out what tag Bridge is reading.

I ran this command: exiftool -a -G1 -s c:\images\test.jpg
And I see that the following 3 tags are still showing the old time.

Is there a command that will change all 3 of these values at the same time?

You can ignore the composite tag.  Composite tags are derived from other tags in the file. 

To fix these tags, you can use
Exiftool -xmp:DateCreated+=0:2:47 -IPTC:TimeCreated+=0:2:47 ~/Desktop/TEMP3

The last code worked, but the cameras are still about 8 seconds apart.

I tried this code Exiftool -xmp:DateCreated+=0:0:7 -IPTC:TimeCreated+=0:0:7 ~/Desktop/TEMP3
It added the time, but Bridge didn't move the files in any way, even though I have it set to Sort by Date Created.

I then tried these 3 codes:

Exiftool -XMP-photoshop:DateCreated+=0:0:8 -IPTC:TimeCreated+=0:0:8 ~/Desktop/TEMP3
Exiftool -ExifIFD:DateTimeOriginal+=0:0:8 -ExifIFD:CreateDate+=0:0:8 ~/Desktop/TEMP3
Exiftool -XMP-xmp:CreateDate+=0:0:8 -XMP-xmp:MetadataDate+=0:0:8 -XMP-ModifyDate+=0:0:8 ~/Desktop/TEMP3

They each updated the files, but the files didn't change position in Bridge.

How can I find out which tag Adobe Bridge uses to sort photos?
I tried googling it, but can't find the answer. Maybe I'm not using the right search terms. Please help.

As I said, I don't have Bridge so I can't help to much there.  See if there's some way your can reload the files, as it may be possible that Bridge doesn't recognize that the file has changed and therefore still has old data associated with the file.

Also, since you're just dealing with time values in this case, try using this command to just look at the time related tags so you don't have to deal with all the other tags.
exiftool exiftool -time:all -a -G1 -s

The only actual problem I see with your output is in the case of XMP-ModifyDate.  In this case you can simply use -XMP:ModifyDate.
