Hi,

I am a newbie to metadata and the ExifTool as such. I was intrigued with some basic queries while playing around with the XMP Media Management schema for the set of identifiers like -
➤ xmpMM:OriginalDocumentID
➤ xmpMM:DocumentID
➤ xmpMM:InstanceID

Not sure if these are the correct questions for this forum, but would be helpful if someone can take out some time to answer -
1. Is the xmpMM metadata added only by creative suite tools?
2. Can the xmpMM metadata be written for file formats such as PDF, numbers, keynote etc? If yes, how?

The references which I have gone through -

Thanks,
Poorva

Hi Poorva,

I can't answer question 1, but xmpMM tags may be added to any file format that supports XMP.  Here is a table of what ExifTool supports.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).
