Preferences In Version 5

Bogdan,

I understand your need to get the new version out and check for bugs and get user comments.  So, I am assuming things that were in the previous version will be added again.

Specifically, in the Preferences all the things you had in the lower frame (-startup metadataview, -thumbnails on startup, etc.)  I really miss those preferences.

Also, you had said that you could easily add an option (or preference) to "show or not show duplicate values" like lens type, short focal length, etc..  I think this was putting in a toggle for the -a option on the tool.  (See "Add new option in "Expert" list - run without duplicates being extracted  (Read 108 times)"

A major release always prompts comments and I am just greatful that you are continuing to support the GUI, as well as Phil on the tool, itself.

Hopefully, you can restore the "Preferences" and include the ability to turn off duplicate entries in the near future.

Hi,

Some of the things you are mentioning will slowly come back in v5; ie. I plan "don't show duplicated tags" for next update. Some other things, like startup (metadata/thumbnails view) settings, doesn't have high priority... I mean, it shouldn't be that difficult to click on desired button after starting GUI.
Comments are welcome, of course, because without feedback from users, GUI would still be at version 1.xx

Thanks for the reply. 

I know when you first implemented the Preferences (startup options - metadata & thumbnails) you said it wasn't that hard and it did exist in previous versions (I think at least the Thumbnails start but it may have been over in Options not in Preferences.

I know I can always click the correct buttons (two in this example) but when quickly opening the GUI just to check an image data - it sure would be nice to have the Preferences set like before.

Please consider putting them back, if its still not too much trouble.

Hi,

Preferences "thumbnails on startup" will be in next update, because this doesn't influence other things I might change in near future. Now, you will only need to click one button

Thanks for the consideration.  Its nice to know I can still run 4.27 with the familiar Preferences - now if I could figure out how to eliminate the duplicates  (-a) in that version............

I and do understand why the major update in version 5.
