At http://www.exiftool.org/ I see
ExifTool can Read, Write and/or Create files in the following formats:
PSP, PSPIMAGE   R       Paint Shop Pro

But on exporting to a TXT file I get
"Error: Writing of PSPIMAGE files is not yet supported - "

Hi Terry,

What command did you use?  I think you must have tried to assign a new value to some tag because ExifTool tried to write the PSP file.

Not sure now, Phil!

If I can reproduce that message methodically I'll come back. Otherwise, and most likely, it's down to me.  :)

Oh, and I should add that this was in the GUI. This is where it gets blurry for me. I assume full integration, yes? All that can be done by experts with ExifTool (in the Windows Run box or at a Command Prompt) can be achieved in the GUI, yes? And not just by using the neat ExifTool Direct button?

Hi Terry,

No.  You can only harness a small fraction of ExifTool's power via the GUI unless you resort to the ExifTool Direct feature (but even then, there are some things you still can't do in the GUI).

I can't even imagine a GUI that could support all of the features available through the command line.  But then, most people don't need all of these features.  (In fact, I'm convinced that there are many features that nobody but me has ever used!)

Hi Phil,

Aha - that's a pretty key misunderstanding of mine then!

Much to ponder. Talk again tomorrow.
