The hard disk of the ExifTool forum server is experiencing i/o errors, so it looks like it will need to be replaced.  I'll try to figure out a way to do this while minimizing the forum down time, but I'm posting this warning here in case it fails before I get a chance to put something else in place.

Fingers crossed that I can make this repair as painless as possible.

OK.  I've switched the forum to a backup server.  This will give me some time to solve the hard disk problems.

OK, we're back on the main server now, which is good because it looks like the firewall wasn't configured properly on the backup server and it started blocking the forum web server in the middle of the night on each of the last two nights.

I did a complete reformat of the main server hard disk and it is working well now.  I'll keep a close eye on disk i/o errors to make sure I catch this early if it starts to happen again.
