Hi,

Using exiftool with Gui under winndows 10, I can read exif from .orf files for Olympus OMD EM-1 but not for the newer OMD EM-1 mk ii.

Thanks for any help

Phil Harvey

What version of the ExifTool application are use using?  I think it may be time to update.  The current version is 10.37.

Hi,

No, that is not the source of the problem. I am working with the latest version under Win 10 and with the Gui. I did a new download and install just in case.

I am having different results with these files with different software. I have no problems opening them in Rawtherapee, Qimage ultimate, Paint shop pro or even Lightzone. I'm not sure but I think they all use Dcraw  for raw file support. ACDSee still does not support .orf from the Olympus OMD EM-1 mk ii  and their help desk is very vague as to when and if they will support it. A major pain! Finally DXO optics pro say on their web site they will support it by 02/17.

Does this help in pinpointing the problem ?

Thanks,

Phil Harvey

This is not an ExifTool problem.  ExifTool has no problem extracting metadata from an OMD EM-1 mk II ORF image.  I think your problem may be that ExifToolGUI is not displaying the image?  If so, then it is likely your system raw decoder that needs updating since I think ExifToolGUI must use a system function if it displays raw images.

Hi again,

Thanks for your help and pointing this to me. Exiftool does indeed read .orf files from the Olympus OMD EM-1 and the EM-1 mk ii. As far as updating my system raw decoder, I might be left in the cold for a while on this. Starting with Windows 10, the raw codec is integrated in the OS and there is no more a raw codec to download from the Microsoft web site. So this might become a waiting game.

Thanks again for your prompt follow up.
