I registered here a few minutes ago and just want to leave a warm "hello" into the round...  :)

I'm actually studying the exiftool online documentation because I'm interested in the question why and how the google image search engine is blocking parts of my (cc0 public domain) photos and images collection that I've uploaded into the Internet Archive (and that I want to share with other interested people for now or in future).

And of course (because I'm now aware about other metadata stuff that shouldn't be written without my knowledge and permission into the metadata sections of my images) I want to have full control about everything related to my photographs and images.

I'm an (more or less) experienced linux user for a couple of years now, know how to use photo editing software (mainly GIMP), how to handle the command line (using bash), how to read documentations (;D) and how to use search engines... but sometimes - if questions are left - I could also need some help from other experienced users... that's why I'm here.

For the moment I have no questions because I'm just at the start of my journey... but if I would have them then I would be glad to find some help here.

If I make mistakes in writing english then please forgive me that: English is not my native language (I'm originally from good old Germany but have migrated into spanish territory - namely the Canary Islands) and although I can read and understand a lot of it I have always some difficulties to find the right words to express the right things.

Ok. That's it for now.

I hope I can also support you in any way (feel free to ask)...

best regards :)

Phil Harvey

Your english is very good.

We'll be happy to help wherever we can.  I can help with any questions about ExifTool or metadata formats, but I don't know much about how search engines use the metadata.
