Good afternoon to everyone on this forum!

I am a wedding photographer and I have had a memory card go bad on me. There are 1156 files that need saving, they were previewable pre download and now my computer does not recognize them. I have been researching everything I can for the past 12 hours with no avail and this forum was the one thing that gave me some hope. When I try to open them in photoshop, the files are not recognized...when I attempt to look at the data, the wheel keeps spinning with no avail (I am working on a Mac). In my research I believe potentially there is an issue with the meta-data so that is why I am here.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, in all my years shooting this has never happened, I am so scared :(

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your reply Phil, I just sent a file!

Bad news.  There is no useful image data in the file you sent.

But there is hope:

The file does contain data, likely from other files on your memory card/disk.  It could be that some of your corrupted "CR2" files may contain useful data.

I suggest running my extract_preview script

With any luck you may be able to recover some usable images.

(as you can see from browsing the posts I linked, you aren't the first one with this problem)

hey again Phil!

I have no idea how to write code or script, this unfortunately is very beyond my capabilities. Would it be possible if you could help me further with my files by running the extract you mentioned?
I would be so very grateful.

If you can upload all of your files to a file sharing service, and send me an email with the download instructions, then I'll take a look at them tomorrow.

Thank you so much Phil. I will do that and send you an email right away... you are a god send.

I can't download the files you sent via dropbox because the size is above my dropbox quota.  I did a bit of googling, and apparently you should be able to send me a shared file link that should allow me read-only access.

Edit: I got your mail saying you recovered your files.  Great!  Problem solved.  Tell us how you did it (I'm guessing some memory card recovery software.)
