I would like to change the Date Modified of a directory to match the date of the file it contains. Can exiftool do this? I am running MacOS.

ExifTool can not set the date/time of a directory.  Just files.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

AppleScript can change the modification dates of folders, but it's probably outside the scope of this forum.
