The EXIF info for NG files taken on my Pentax K3 has a tag "Focus Range Index" with values of:
0 (very close)
1 (close)
2
3
4
5
6 (far)
7 (very far)

Is there any way to estimate the distance to the subject? I'm not looking for pinpoint accuracy, just a reasonable estimate. FWIW I use  a Sigma 17-50mm and a Sigma 70-200mm.

Thanks

Keith

This really depends on the K3.  You could do a series of test shots, but I'm guessing that the conversion will be lens-dependent.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

Thanks for the quick response Phil.

Being a lazy old bugger I was hoping I wouldn't have to actually do any work  8)

Oh well, time to get the tape measure out  :D

Cheers

PS Used exiftool to catalog my mp3 files (on Linux so can't use MediaMonkey)! Absolutely brilliant tool - many thanks!
