Hello im New Here.
Ysterday i got an "idea"...

With EXIF information, is it possible to enter comments with pixel accuracy?

Wouldnt it be great if you click somewhere in the photo and enter a text and save it right to the selected pixel.
Or define pixel coordinates e.g. 100 from the left 40 from the top and to make notes there, which are saved in the photo?
Or areas / boxes on which you can make comments?

Something like "HTML Image Maps" - but for Photos

Examples:
- To mark the villages in the background of a landscape photo.
- Tree species / bird species in a forest photo.
- Make comments on resistors and components on a circuit board photo.
- Name each person in a group photo.

Basically similar to screenshots here in the forum are always provided with arrows ...
All of this without its own database, but saved in the photo itself.

Does the EXIF standard already has tags to provide that or similar functionality?
Are there alternatives to achieve something like this?

im From Germany and used Google Translator, ill hope You get the point from my idea...

Thanks for Your Comments

Even KI-Software could use this EXIF tags to Provide their Scan-Results to other Software without needing to use an own Database.

Like "This could be an Bird" or "This is an Cow" or just "House"

Or something only computers can understand... ;)

The Key is to save Tags/infos Connected to an Pixel or maybe an Area.

While it's normally used for selecting people's faces and isn't pixel level accurate (since the region will scale correctly if the image is resized), this is basically the same as the various Region tags.  The most common standard is the MWG regions, though there is an IPTC extension standard, as well as region standards created by ACDSee and Microsoft.

For example

Of course, you would have to have a program that would support viewing of such regions.  I don't believe there is that many free programs that actually support viewing of regions, though.
* Did you read FAQ #3 and use the command listed there?
* Please use the Code button for exiftool code/output.

* Please include your OS, Exiftool version, and type of file you're processing (MP4, JPG, etc).

You can find details on how the MWG regions are set up on page 51 of this pdf (via Archive.org).

Thx. MWG regions seem pretty close to my idea.

I'll take a closer look to ACDSee.

Maybe Digicam will implement MWG Regions...

they just expanded Face Recognition...
