Compiling C++ interface into a library compatible with MSVC

After figuring out how to compile the Exiftool C++ interface examples under Cygwin, I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on (or better yet has already succeeded with) compiling the class as a separate library under Cygwin in a way which will make it compatible with MSVC - preferably 2019??
