...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

I would appreciate feedback, from you, from this forum. I mean, it will not be perfect for everybody. It's coded more or less how I think it should work.

Running Windows apps for me is a real pain -- I have to run them in a virtual machine on my Mac.  But I'll see about testing it out the next time I fire up the machine (it resides on an external disk because my laptop disk doesn't have enough space).
