I am using a lot of old manual lenses and want to identify them.
But when I write lens names into the entry "LensModel", the names are not displayed when I open the files in lightroom (v5.7). Are there other tags where I can enter the lens model (as string)?

Try downloading the MetadataTestFile.zip that is in this post, load that into Lightroom, and see if anything shows up for Lens Model.  That file has over 1,400 tags set and if it shows up, it should show the name of the tag used.

For example, Adobe Bridge doesn't show a place for Lens Model, but loading that file shows this


From this, you can see that Bridge reads EXIF:Make for Make, XMP-exifEX:SerialNumber for Body Serial number, etc
