Sometimes I would like to add a small *.png image into a post for explanation.

How can I achieve this?

When I post a new reply into an existing thread then in the quick reply toolbar there is only a
"Insert an image" icon where users must give a http link to an external image.

is there really no direct insert possible? Even not for small images (< 150 kb)?

If you press "REPLY" instead of using the "Quick Reply" feature, you will see an area marked "Click or drag files here to attach them".  Drag your PNG onto this bar then click the up arrow to insert it into the post.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

It also appears if you hit "Preview" after typing your message

Then there's an up arrow to insert it with option width/height in pixels. I tend to use 500 as width so as not to overwhelm smaller screens
