When geotagging couple of thousand pictures (downloaded straight from Nikon D7000 with no modification done to them at all), I got a warning message for some of them like this:

Warning: [minor] Ignored empty rdf:Bag list for dc:subject - DSC_1503.JPG

Could someone please explain the meaning of this warning and what can be the cause of it ? (my knowledge about metadata related standards and associated data structures is almost zero)

These files are not downloaded straight from the camera.  They have been modified by some software (Nikon Capture NX or Nikon Transfer, perhaps?).

The warning indicates an empty XMP element that should contain list elements.  At one time, empty elements like this caused problems for ExifTool, but now ExifTool just deletes them when rewriting and gives a warning.
