Hi all.
By mistake I removed a huge amount of NEF (Nikon raws), jpg and xmp sidecar files.
Fortunately, there's a software called 'testdisk' and I could recover almost everything.
But now after the recovery, I have a huge batch of files without extension in a single folder. Typically the names of all the files are '#xxxxxxxx#' where 'x' is a number.
In fact, I need to recover the type of the file from the content of the file to batch rename with a bash script. Can Exiftool do that?
Linux user...
Thanks!

See this thread.  Use Phil's command plus the addition option I posted.
* Did you read FAQ #3 and use the command listed there?
* Please use the Code button for exiftool code/output.

* Please include your OS, Exiftool version, and type of file you're processing (MP4, JPG, etc).
